Currently Watching (July 2021)

It’s been a while since I put you guys on to some dramas. This post is only going to focus on 3 K-Dramas that I have been watching/re-watched recently. And then my upcoming post will focus on 3 Chinese Dramas that I’ve watched recently. All of the dramas mentioned in the post are definitely binge worthy. Go check them out and let me know in the comments or on my Instagram what you think about them.

  • Mad For Each Other/이 구역의 미친 X
  • Cinderella and Four Knights/신데렐라와 네 명의 기사

Mine/마인

Who doesn’t love a main cast full of strong women!
  • Release Date: 05/08/2021
  • Episodes: 16
  • Where I Watch: Netflix
  • Rating: 9.8/10

The plot of this drama surrounds the lives of a rich family. It seems that some of the best K-dramas have plots that peek into the lives of Korea’s elite society members. The 2 leading woman have married into the Hyowon Group/family. There’s scandal, affairs, and and a murder that we’re trying to slowly piece together. There’s also a deep, dark secret that slowly get’s revealed involving some baby mama drama. The cast is pretty solid, including Cha Hak Yeon/차학연(more commonly know as N from VIXX). All I have to say is head over to Netflix and hop on this drama RIGHT NOW!

I had to start this blog post off with THIS DRAMA because chilee………THIS ONE IS CRAZY! The drama does start off a little slow. Not slow in a boring way but slow in the sense that so much was happening and the story line is pretty chopped up. There’s a lot of foreshadowing and time jumping etc. So it takes a few episodes for the viewer to start piecing everything together. But the moment everything starts making sense you won’t be able to stop watching this drama! I’m a bit salty that I didn’t wait for all of the eps to drop and then binge this one. Waiting for the new eps every week wad very difficult.

This was literally my face after watching every episode. My jaw was permanently glued to the floor! I 100000/10 recommend. It’s spicy, and will have you eagerly anticipating what will happen next. My only issue was that the final episode didn’t give what it was supposed to give..it was kinda dry honestly…But besides that small hiccup, I thoroughly enjoyed watching this one

  • Mad For Each Other/이 구역의 미친 X
    • Release Date: 05/24/2021
    • Episodes: 13
    • Where To Watch: Netflix
    • Rating: 7.5/10
The official trailer is TRASH….this gives absolutely no context to what the drama is about

This drama was a very interesting, quick watch. Theres only 13 eps that are about 30 minutes long. So of course I breezed through this drama. The plot is definitely unique in the sense that it mainly focuses on mental health awareness which is a subject that is HARDLY ever touched on in K-Dramas. Words like ‘psycho’ and ‘crazy’ are thrown around a lot. I personally enjoyed watching the show but I do feel as though the plot and intention might not sit right with some people.

In the drama, both main characters are receiving counseling from a therapist. The male lead has anger management issues, and the female lead is suffering from paranoia and PTSD because of a terrible series of events that recently happened to her. The two of them meet in a very unconventional way, all of their interactions are extremely unconventional…..In short, this drama is pure CRACKHEADERY, while also managing to be serious.

My favorite little eggshell about this drama is the fact that  Lee Su Hyun/이수현 from AKMU has a role in it. And she even gets a chance to ‘cameo’ her beautiful voice. As I said, the drama is super short, so the plot is noticeably RUSHED…BUT…I still think you should check it out. It’s a quick lil’ ‘palette cleanser’ to watch in between a binge.

Cinderella and the Four Knights/신데렐라와 네 명의 기사

    • Release Date: 08/12/2016
    • Episodes: 16
    • Where To Watch: Netflix and Viki
    • Rating: 8/10

I know what you’re thinking. “Kadraya….this drama aired ages ago, how are you just now watching it?!” Well actually, this is my 3rd time watching this drama, so I decided to finally write about it. That alone should tell you how much I love this drama.

In all honestly, I keep re-watching this drama SOLELY because of Lee Jung Shin/이정신. That’s it. Period. (If you don’t know who this man is….my condolences sis because you’re missing out on the FINEr things in life).

Eun Ha Won basically gets the opportunity to live the life that we all have wanted to live….being the center of attention for 3 rich, successfully, and very good looking chaebols (give or take) and their butler/bodyguard/babysitter. Because of her unique personality and mature value and virtues, she catches the attention of the chaebols grandfather who strikes a deal with her. The end goal is to whip these rich boys into shape and make them suitable to potentially take over the family’s company.

Everything about this drama brings me back to a simpler time…that 2012-2016 drama vibe. The ‘older’ style cinematography is definitely a refresher. Go watch it sis…you won’t regret it. Even if you don’t like the plot, there will at least be one guy that catches your eye… there’s one for everyone

So that wraps this post up! I’ll be doing a full review of each of the dramas mentioned in this post in the near future since I’ve finished watching them all. Until next time…
